Velvet Spurs
The Velvet Spurs Riding Club is an all-women’s horse club founded in 1968 and united by a shared love of horses, friendship, and community. The club is best known for its horseback drill team, which performs at events such as Nebraskaland Days, the Buffalo Bill Rodeo, and the Gothenburg Pony Express Rodeo.
Throughout the year, the Velvet Spurs serve their community by participating in parades, the Partner Up Rodeo, environmental cleanups, and fundraisers for local historical attractions. Each Christmas, they also decorate Buffalo Bill’s home and the Lincoln County Historical Museum, helping bring history and holiday spirit to visitors.
The club hosts two major annual events: Family Fun Day, which features a variety of horse competitions, and the Horseback Poker Ride, which supports Ash Hollow State Historical Park. Members also enjoy traveling and camping with their horses, strengthening friendships and creating lasting memories. The Velvet Spurs welcome new members and continue expanding their rodeo schedule while sharing club news and activities on Facebook and TikTok.
Shockwave Trick Riders
Shockwave Trick Riders specialize in high‑speed, high‑impact equestrian stunts — think barrel rolls, backflips, and other acrobatic maneuvers performed while riding at full gallop. Their performances blend equestrian skill, stunt choreography, and showmanship, making them a unique act in rodeo and entertainment circuits.
